About the Exhibition

This exhibition offers an opportunity to encounter, in one place, the major art movements and artists that bridged Impressionism and modern art. Its theme is to explore the creative spirit and artistic turning points of artists who played important roles in art history after Impressionism. The main artists are Claude Monet, Edvard Renoir, Frédéric Degas, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso, each represented by signature works. Spanning the art-historical context from the late 19th to early 20th century, the exhibition sheds light on these artists' achievements, contributing to an understanding of the turning point from Impressionism's free color expression to modern art. It is organized into 12 sections in total, presenting 60 works in total. Highlights include Renoir's Garden on a Summer Afternoon, Degas's Dance at the Barre, van Gogh's Starry Night, Matisse's The Yellow Room, and Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon.
