Yang Ah Ham: An undefined panorama

About the Exhibition

Art Sonje Center presents Ham Yangah: Undefined Panorama, a solo exhibition by Ham Yangah, from July 31 to October 4, 2026. Her first solo exhibition at Art Sonje Center in 16 years, since her 2010 show Ham Yangah: Adjectival Life > Nonsense Factory, it is built around new work from her eight-year-long research project 'Undefined Panorama.' 'Undefined Panorama' began from questions that arose for the artist as she confronted the collapse of systems and the suffering experienced by individuals and communities, prompted by the tragic events that shook Korean society in 2014. It has unfolded as video-installation work that constructs a narrative structure through a process of collecting, classifying, and abstracting data across various fields of contemporary society, including finance, politics, technology, education, and labor. This exhibition centers on a large-scale video installation of the new work Undefined Panorama 4.0 (2026), newly interpreting the relationship among humans, society, and nature through the concept of 'circulation.' Realized as an eight-channel video installation in an enormous circular structure, this work is presented alongside the new piece Listening Speaker, Speaking Other (2026) and key works from the project such as Sleep (2015-2016) and Undefined Panorama 2.0 (2019).
