About the Exhibition

This is a solo exhibition by Lina Lapelytė, presented with the support of CHANEL, transforming the Hamburger Bahnhof's historic hall into a multi-participatory theatrical space. Titled 'We Make Years Out of Hours,' the exhibition explores concepts of time, care, and community, presenting a participatory format in which visitors and the artist reconstruct the space together using 400,000 wooden blocks. The work crosses the boundaries between sculpture and performance, individual and collective, filling the gallery with music and song based on the poetry of 15 international poets. Presented as part of the Hamburger Bahnhof's 30th-anniversary celebration, the exhibition emphasizes the concept of an open, participatory museum. In particular, the exhibition's main highlight is the chance for visitors to directly move the blocks to build structures and experience time and community while listening to songs based on the poets' verses.
