Inside this building in Hiroo, famed as the 'Tiger City,' the classical and the contemporary in Japanese painting coexist in a stillness that seems to defy time. In particular, Fushisa Matabei's Women Enjoying Flowers stops the visitor's breath with its layered brushstrokes, revealing the mood of this place all the more deeply.
