Walking slowly along a quiet street in Beijing, earth-toned walls and traditional rooftops come into view. Passing through the main entrance of the Capital Museum, a stillness as if time had stopped welcomes visitors. Climbing the stairs that stretch from the basement to the upper floors, the quiet spirit held within Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain and Buddhist statues seeps into the heart. At the center of the galleries flows the atmosphere of old China, and visitors feel as though they are setting out on a journey into the past. A painting commemorating the 2008 Beijing Olympics briefly rekindles the passion of that era.
