About
Su Nuraxi di Barumini is a Bronze Age nuraghe complex in Barumini, Sardinia, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. At its center stands a basalt tower roughly 19 meters high, built between the 17th and 14th centuries BC with three superimposed chambers, surrounded by secondary towers, walls, and a village of round stone huts that grew up between the 13th and 6th centuries BC. The site was revealed by excavations led by archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu in the 1950s, and the managing foundation presents it as the best-preserved nuragic complex in Sardinia. Visits are by guided tour only.
