About
A short walk from Shin-Yokohama Station, this museum had its grand opening on March 6, 1994. Built around the concept of tasting ramen from across Japan "without getting on a plane," it recreates, in its basement levels, a streetscape from 1958 — the year Nissin's Chicken Ramen, the world's first instant noodles, went on sale. The underground "Ramen Town" is made up of three fictional districts — Tsurukame-cho, Renge-cho, and Naruto-cho. The first basement level holds an exhibition space, museum shop, candy store, and tea house, while the second basement level houses ramen shops from across the country along with an event plaza. Komurasaki, a shop from Kumamoto, has been operating continuously since the museum opened, while other stalls rotate on cycles of three months to a year. Current admission is 450 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary through high school students.
