An art museum in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, Japan

About

Within a gate surrounded by tall walls built long ago in an old Japanese town, the space is now filled with the breath of ancient sculpture. Statues on loan from the Louvre and the soft contours of Impressionist sculptors' works blend together, their light seeping quietly through the thin paper walls. Here, sunlight grazing the stone surfaces makes the sculptures glow, as if a Greek god were turning its body in the wind. Walking among these sculptures, forms that seem born from the sculptor's fingertips silently brush their shoulders against visitors as they approach. Among the sculptures that came from the Louvre, the faces of the ancient Grace and Persephone, having endured long spans of time, are softly revealed.
