Centuries of traces accumulated underground still convey, through the rough brick still touchable at one's fingertips, the breath of buried history. This place first served as a burial ground for the martyrdom of saints and Christian believers, a resting place that held the remains of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Inscriptions and images carved into the walls quietly hold the faith and memories of those who met death here, preserving a stillness that seems to reach back through time. Among the statues is a figure of Jesus Christ standing with a serene expression, holding the world, a symbol of faith and the embodiment of hope. Walking through the underground tunnels, one comes to feel that the despair and joy of the past still flow through the air even now.
