As you open the door and step inside, the quiet air flowing beneath the painted ceiling slowly guides the visitor's steps. The light flowing along the walls touches the eyes of the figures in Mengs's portraits, creating the illusion that they are looking back at the visitor. Walking along the corridor, an atmosphere that seems to blend the fragrance of the Renaissance with the spirit of antiquity fills the space. As if Mengs had learned drawing and composition from Raphael, every sculpture and painting here stands quietly, undiminished by time, facing only toward beauty. The visitor feels as though they are lingering in this space together with the artists of the past.
