This building, once the main residence of the Sumitomo family, is enclosed by walls and a ceiling that seem to hold up the night sky, as if promising never to let visitors leave any particular era behind. Through repeated wars and shifting times, this building became a refuge that preserved art, and today it has become a space where one senses the flow of time invisible to the eye. The ceramics and brush paintings hanging on the walls carry the weight of long years buried within them, quietly echoing the visitor's breath. The light that seeps between the sparsely decorated walls and windows crosses back and forth over the border between hope and memory, calling to mind the purpose for which the art was once made.
