About
Passing beneath the arch where Rembrandt's 'The Conspiracy of Claudius Civilis' hangs, you come face to face with a stillness that seems severed, made of traces of concrete and iron fragments. Light flows in twists along the old stone walls, and a stillness fills the space as if gently lulling a single moment of the past to sleep. The marble floor of the central hall is stained like the footsteps of ancestors who once hurried through the flow of time, and every time you walk across it, the weight of history is slowly felt beneath your feet. The dome of the ceiling holds the flow of light within it, and at night, within a space that suddenly grows still, small lighting seems to gaze upon ancient glory. This is a space that makes you forget time, created solely by a single light, a painting, and the breath of old concrete.
