The moment one opens the door and steps in, a faint but bright light spreading from a dark passage meets the eye. That light, as though natural light had been finely controlled like through palm fronds, wraps around the exhibition hall calmly, like sunlight seeping through leaves swaying in a mountain breeze. When the face of a woman holding a black lace parasol, hanging on one wall, catches the eye, she seems caught within a quiet stillness, as if waiting somewhere in a forest. This space, where the light within the painting and the light outside it seem to connect, is not simply an exhibition space but an oasis of time in which a single moment's emotion has been fixed. Light always envelops the painting, and the painting makes one forget time.
