A museum of the Korea Racing Authority in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
About
Standing on land once used as an equestrian arena, this museum has become a space holding the traces and spirit of the horse. Horse figures carved of iron and wood catch the sunlight as it passes, seeming to draw the visitor's gaze with their reflected gleam. A painting titled Gyeokgu-do (a scene of traditional horseback polo) makes the scenery of the past visible, and this woman's brushwork still carries its excitement to this day. Walking through the exhibition halls, the scent of horses brushes the nose the whole while, and each step feels like walking upon warm, ancient earth. Every truth related to the horse breathes here, and that breath lingers deep in the heart, like a sudden, unexpected walk.
