Standing in the courtyard of the Museum of the Imperial Collections (Sannomaru Shozokan), a bronze-cast wreath rings faintly with each gust of wind. In the gallery holding the handed-down 'Three Sacred Treasures' and the handwriting of successive emperors, time flows like water, momentarily stilling the mind of the viewer. The gleam of celadon and ceramics carrying on imperial tradition creates a stillness as though sinking into an abyss, and with each slight movement of a single brushstroke, the breath of the past cuts through the air. The paintings that catch the eye as you walk slowly convey a resonance, as if glimpsing the lives of one's ancestors. Everything encountered here follows not merely an exhibition, but the flow of life itself.
