Step off at a station on subway Line 6, and vintage concrete walls and an iron door come into view. Leaving Changsha's hot air behind and pushing open the museum's front doors, a faint glow cuts through the space, leading visitors into a tunnel of time where past and present intersect. Lighting flowing along the walls moves between ancient Chinese ceramics and contemporary art, softening the boundary between them. On one wall, blue-glazed ceramic fragments rest quietly, while on another floor, installation works carrying a contemporary sensibility breathe just as quietly.
