The exterior, covered in white concrete and wood, carries a weight that seems to flow through time. After the wind that blows through the courtyard passes, the boundary between the darkness that seems to swallow the light and the brightness along one wall feels unfamiliar. The space known as the study holds a stillness as if gathering the breath left behind by a figure from the past, and visitors feel as though they are stepping into a relic itself. This is not simply a building that received history's spotlight, but a space where the voices of the past still linger, scattered and diffuse. Traces of Hatoyama Ichiro flow across every wall, at times brushing past lightly like a letter or a framed photograph on a desk that lets one guess at his thoughts.
