About
The Institut national de l'audiovisuel (INA) was established under a law of August 7, 1974, as part of the reform of the French broadcaster ORTF, and formally began operations on January 6, 1975. It is a public institution that receives and preserves French radio and television broadcasts through a legal deposit system, headquartered in Bry-sur-Marne near Paris. INA holds a vast collection of radio and television programs along with photographic archives, with preservation and cataloging as its core mission. In 1995 it established Inathèque, an archive access service for researchers, and in 2006 it launched the public website ina.fr, making a portion of its broadcast archives available online.
