A museum located in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

About

To mark its 75th anniversary, Philips presents the Evoluon to the city of Eindhoven, opening it on 24 September 1966 with Prince Bernhard in attendance. Designed by Louis Kalff and Leo de Bever, the building is a flying-saucer-shaped concrete dome 77 meters in diameter, held together by 169 kilometers of tension cable. The dome is assembled from 822 precast concrete elements, each weighing 1,200 kilograms, resting on V-shaped columns. From 1966 to 1989 it operates as a museum of science and technology. After 1989, Philips repurposes the space for conferences and exhibitions, and from 2012 it hosts temporary exhibitions in partnership with various science centers. It is designated a Dutch national monument in 2018, and since 2022 the building has housed the Next Nature Museum.
