Klimt's 'Portrait of Every Woman' hangs from the ceiling, and the golden light flowing from his fingertips draws visitors down onto the floor below. Intricate patterns and subtle tones cascade down the vertical walls, turning the entire space into a single visual poem. As the symbol and master of the Secession, Klimt's painting dominates the whole atmosphere of the museum, and within its flow, Egon Schiele's simple forms and Oskar Kokoschka's vivid lines come together in harmony. The arched windows of the roof cut the sky outside like a sculpture, blending with the soft light within to leave behind an afterglow as if time had stopped.
