As you open the door and step inside, the quiet air of this castle, once a governor's residence, embraces the visitor. Stone walls stacked in layers and old wooden stairs preserve intact the breath of the past. Walking through the castle's corridors, your gaze lingers on walls steeped in the traces of Ludwig the Springer, and a ruin painted by Goethe seems to beckon from within time. On one side of the castle hangs a painting depicting the life of Saint Elizabeth, over which a mysterious light passes. Wartburg Castle is not merely a building, but has become a space holding Germany's history and identity.
