VERDY: I Believe in Me

About the Exhibition

Lotte Museum presents I Believe in Me, the first museum solo exhibition by Osaka-born graphic artist VERDY. This exhibition explores how contemporary youth culture and street-based visual language can acquire and expand new meaning within the space of a museum. Formed through brand projects, global collaborations, and pop-up events, his work has grown from personal experience into a generational sensibility and cultural phenomenon. The exhibition title, 'I Believe in Me,' condenses the artist's creative attitude. It stems not from simple self-confidence but from a practice of continuing to work while enduring uncertainty and anxiety. Alongside his existing graphic work, this exhibition includes about 100 crayon drawings and 24 new large-scale three-dimensional works, presenting in multiple layers how VERDY's visual language has formed and expanded. The exhibition is organized into four sections. The first section, 'Vick,' unfolds around the artist's persona character 'Vick'; in the second section, 'I Believe in Me,' the character, which began as flat graphics, expands into sculpture and installation. The third section, 'Wasted Youth,' spotlights typographic work and the process by which language turns into image, and the final section, 'The Studio,' is a space recreating VERDY's Tokyo studio.
