About the Exhibition

This special exhibition sheds light on the meaning and value of the dining table, in which our lives and nature converge. As K-culture wins hearts around the world, K-food too is receiving fresh attention, and this exhibition begins from the recognition that K-food is likewise rooted in the ordinary dining tables we face every day. The memory of the table holds who we have eaten with, how, what, and why, and each texture of life held within a single spread is both memory and history, offering clues to understanding ourselves. The exhibition examines the history and culture of the dining table through some 420 items, including a group of vessels excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong. Held in Special Exhibition Gallery 2 of the National Museum of Korea from July 1 to October 25, 2026, it is organized by the Department of Archaeology and History, with an official docent talk — requiring a separate reservation in addition to an exhibition ticket — offered daily at 16:00 (excluding weekends, closed days, and public holidays).
