About the Exhibition

This exhibition presents the work of living artists based in the Washington, D.C. area, continuing a long tradition of the Phillips Collection. Held under the 2026 theme, it includes 48 artists selected from 1,500 total submissions, celebrating the beauty, resilience, and determination of artists who continue their creative practice while grappling with the complexity of contemporary society. The exhibition presents a view of today's challenges and possibilities through the work of artists spanning multiple generations. It comprises 48 works in total, harmonizing various eras and styles. Visitors can experience the diversity of contemporary art especially through works carrying artists' personal experiences and social messages.
