About the Exhibition

This exhibition reinterprets Van Gogh's art through a contemporary lens, exploring themes of finding 'grounding' in religion, human relationships, and everyday ritual. Titled In Search of an Anchor, it symbolizes the process by which Van Gogh struggled to find direction in life. Held at the Van Gogh Museum, this exhibition shows how contemporary artists have interpreted and reconstructed Van Gogh's art, offering a fresh perspective on his life and work. It presents 30 works in total, including work from Van Gogh's early through late periods. In particular, the section combining Van Gogh's letters with the work of contemporary artists is a highlight, allowing visitors to sense both his inner world and its contemporary reinterpretation at once.
