About the Exhibition

This exhibition centers on a new series of photographic works released in 2025 by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. Themed around the concept of 'extinction,' it explores, through photography, a philosophical reflection on what disappears amid nature, humanity, and the passage of time. One key work, 'Sakamagawa Inoura,' stands as the exhibition's centerpiece, visually depicting the relationship between marine ecosystems and humanity. Running from October 2025 to June 2026, the exhibition presents a total of 30 photographic works. It is organized into three sections — 'The View of Extinction,' 'The Passage of Time,' and 'Disappearing Nature' — letting visitors feel deeply the relationship between nature and humanity through photography. 'Sakamagawa Inoura' in particular stands as the exhibition's highlight, conveying both the beauty of nature and the pain of its disappearance.
