About the Exhibition
This exhibition addresses Renaissance art, which flourished across Europe from the 15th through 16th centuries, exploring the core characteristics of Renaissance art through more than 50 works selected from the rich collection of the Louvre's university art museum in Paris. It begins from the point that, as humanism spread during the Renaissance, ancient Greek and Roman culture underwent a reappraisal. This was a period in which human subjectivity and individual value were emphasized, and accordingly, concepts revealing the inner self of the subject became an important artistic theme. The exhibition centers on Leonardo da Vinci's Portrait of a Woman (1490-1497, oil on panel, 63.5×44.5cm, held at the Louvre Museum, Paris), organized around four themes: travel, technological innovation, perspectives on ancient culture, and the development of Impressionist art. It includes works across several genres, such as paintings, sculptures, prints, sketches, and crafts, offering an important opportunity to understand the essence of Renaissance art. Highlights include Leonardo da Vinci's Portrait of a Woman and Albrecht Dürer's Between (1515, woodcut, 24.5×30.
