About the Exhibition

This exhibition introduces the photographic work of Richard Avedon on the theme of the American West's working class. Photographs taken across the American West from 1979 to 1984 capture the daily lives and appearances of local residents. The exhibition shows Avedon's distinctive approach, departing from traditional fashion photography to capture people's true expressions and the weight of their lives within actual daily existence. It presents 40 photographs in total, organized into three sections: 'Labor,' 'Identity,' and 'Social Context.' In particular, photographs of figures from various walks of life — farm workers, miners, housewives — vividly show Avedon's social concern and artistic reflection.
