About the Exhibition

This is the first exhibition to explore the early, pre-avant-garde creative activity of Russian artists Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova. This period was an important stage in which the two artists established their artistic identity and went on to contribute to the avant-garde movement, and this exhibition sheds light on their artistic development through their early work. It includes paintings and drawings made by Larionov and Goncharova in the early 1900s, which were mainly influenced by French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists. The exhibition presents about 30 works in total, many of which are on public view for the first time. The exhibition's main highlights are the paintings and drawings Larionov and Goncharova created early in their careers, particularly the works in which Goncharova first attempted painting technique.
