About the Exhibition

Paris Unseen is a contemporary French photography exhibition introducing another side of Paris beyond the romantic tourist city we know so well. Behind its glamorous landmarks, old time and memory coexist with a rapidly changing, real Paris of today, and this exhibition brings together the city's new faces, long obscured behind tourist imagery, along with the lyricism unique to Paris found in places such as the Tuileries Garden and the Bois de Boulogne. France is the country where photography was born some 200 years ago through the experiments of Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, and visitors can encounter around 150 photographs, videos, and installation works by 53 artists who have worked primarily in Paris. The exhibition introduces the broad world of photography, from traditional printing techniques such as heliogravure, cyanotype, and silver gelatin print to digital and AI-based work, and was organized in collaboration with Alain Sayag, former head of photography at the Centre Pompidou.
