Pioneers of Omani Art

About the Exhibition

This exhibition sheds light on the pioneers of Omani art, presenting an important context connecting Oman's tradition to its contemporary art. It was conceived to emphasize the distinctiveness of Omani art and to make internationally known the artistic achievements grounded in the region's identity. The main artists include leading Omani figures such as Ali Al-Hamadi, Fatima Al-Hamadi, and Hamid Al-Hamadi. The exhibition includes works from the 1950s to today, presenting more than 40 works in total. It is organized into three sections following the historical currents of Omani art, harmonizing traditional technique with contemporary approach. Visitors can experience both Oman's traditional culture and contemporary artistic experimentation at once, with Ali Al-Hamadi's series 'The Boundary Between Tradition and Modernity' and Fatima Al-Hamadi's series 'A Woman's Gaze' especially noteworthy.
