Government Art Bank 20th Anniversary Special Exhibition: The Future Returns — Manifestations of Form and Thought

About the Exhibition

This is a 20th-anniversary special exhibition retracing the footsteps the Art Bank has left as a companion to Korean contemporary art over the past 20 years. Held at MMCA Cheongju, this exhibition uses the Art Bank's collection, loan records, and exhibition archival materials to document the flow and change of Korean art, exploring present and future artistic possibilities from multiple angles. The exhibition is organized in three parts. Part 1, 'The Future Returned: The Manifestation of Form and Thought,' shows the progressive transformation of form and ideas through about 50 works by artists such as Yun Hyong-keun, Sung Neung-kyung, Koo Jeong A, and DUKIM; Part 2, 'Recollections of the Archive,' provides information via QR code on 50 frequently loaned collection works and presents 10 physical works by Song Su-nam, Seol Won-gi, and Kim Hyuk-jung; Part 3, 'The Remembered Future: A Dialogue with the City,' presents the Art Bank's public projects and special exhibition works from a new perspective through transformed reproductions based on archival material.
