About the Exhibition

This special exhibition combines key holdings of the MAK (Museum of Applied Arts) with contemporary design. Themed 'The Fusion of Design and Art,' it is conceived to explore the intersection of applied and contemporary art. Key works include high jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels displayed alongside the MAK's collection, with Ursi Fürtler's textile work and Thomas Demand's photographic work drawing particular attention. The exhibition includes around 100 works, organized into a section exploring the relationship between everyday life, art, and design around 1900, and a section showing the development of contemporary design. Highlights include the 'GLANZSTÜCKE' display combining Van Cleef & Arpels' fine jewelry with the MAK's traditional holdings, and Ursi Fürtler's abstract textile work.
