About the Exhibition

JOOAHN explores the state of environments transformed by human intervention through water, trees, erosion, and emptied structures. Rather than reproducing nature as a pure landscape, the artist has focused on the state of environments formed as human time and natural time overlap over long periods, and the works introduced in this exhibition originate from continuous observation and field research across various environments — the wetlands of Mulyeongari, terrain revealed by the water level at Ageobong, erosion at Sambuyeon Falls, a covered stream, and empty spaces left by woodpeckers. The eroded structures and emptied spaces that recur throughout the work are not simply traces of lack or destruction, but structures left within the environment by water and time over long periods, and conditions in which other forms of life and environment can settle. The artist calls the state in which traces of water, trees, moisture, and erosion influence one another and connect as if forming a single body the 'Environmental Body,' and this exhibition, Stored Time, invites viewers to sense the time and structure left within the landscape rather than the visible scenery alone.
