About the Exhibition

Jang Jinwon has built a distinctive artistic world rooted in Korean painting since moving to New York, and this exhibition, marking his winning of the Heo Baek-ryeon Art Award, spotlights his body of work over the past 20-odd years. His creative practice is grounded in a method that blends Eastern and Western techniques, and he understands light as something revealed only after passing through times of suppression, loss, and silence. Exploring the essence of life and existence, he leaves traces of light on the canvas in a way that does not turn away from the darkness of reality. Organized chronologically from his early series to the recent Glory series, his works are imbued with both Eastern thought and Christian awareness.
