About the Exhibition

Themed around 'yakimono' — ceramics — this exhibition explores how ceramics developed beyond everyday objects into works of artistic value. It presents Chinese, Japanese, and Korean ceramics in separate galleries, letting visitors experience the beauty of ceramic culture across regions and eras. Gallery 1 centers on representative Chinese ceramics, Gallery 2 on Japanese ceramics, and Gallery 5 on ceramics from the Korean peninsula. Selected masterpieces from a total of 2,300 ceramic pieces let visitors explore the culture and artistic identity of each region. Highlights include water ewers and stands from China's Yue kiln of the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, a gold-decorated long-necked bottle made at Jingdezhen in China, ceramics by Kanabe Keizan representing the Japanese Rinpa school, and ceramics using the Korean peninsula's sanggam inlay technique — all set to leave a deep impression on visitors.
