This exhibition spotlights the creativity of Iris van Herpen, regarded as an innovative pioneer of contemporary fashion design. It explores her experimental spirit, which pushes past the boundaries of fashion by fusing technology with traditional craft. Featuring around 140 haute couture designs alongside works by contemporary artists, scientific materials, and natural history specimens, the exhibition raises questions about the body, clothing, environment, and the future. It centers on her work translating scientific concepts — biomimicry, fractal geometry, neuroscience — into fashion, exploring the fluidity of water, the physics of motion, the perception of sound and light, and the connectedness of nature. Marking the North American debut of this exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, it offers a multidisciplinary experience exploring the intersection of fashion, art, and science. Visitors can experience sensation and creativity together through Iris van Herpen's designs alongside scientific materials, contemporary artworks, and an ambient sound environment.
