About the Exhibition

This exhibition is part of the Whitney Museum's 2026 Biennial in New York — a sponsored presentation created by Los Angeles-based artist Kelly Akashi for the museum's fifth-floor outdoor gallery. Spanning several media including cast steel, works on paper, and outdoor screen animation, it is an installation that spans the Whitney's terrace and adjacent spaces. A noted figure in contemporary sculpture and installation art, Kelly Akashi explores the relationship between space and material in this exhibition. It comprises around 10 works, with the outdoor screen animation standing out as a highlight visible even from outside the gallery. Presented in conjunction with the Whitney's Biennial program, the exhibition shows an experimental approach that crosses the boundaries of contemporary art.
