About the Exhibition

Marking the 40th anniversary of its opening, MMCA Gwacheon has organized a project that newly examines the museum's role and modes of experience, grounded in its distinctive character as a place where nature, architecture, and art coexist. By organically connecting exhibitions, education, design, and public programs, it looks back on Gwacheon's past 40 years and explores future possibilities. Several exhibitions and programs unfold, including the installation project A Place to Stay, in which visitors linger in the sculpture park to form new relationships with the works; the collection installation project Sight and Scene, featuring works by Kim Ayoung and Philippe Parreno; Afterimage, which explores light, perception, and spatial experience through works by James Turrell and Iván Navarro; the special screening program Artists of the Sculpture Park; the participatory archive Scenes; and the Children's Museum of Art program. Crossing nature and art, space and sensation, this program newly sheds light on the experimentation and public character MMCA Gwacheon has carried throughout its history.
