Giulia Andreani's painting solo exhibition Sabotage

Exhibition Info

About the Exhibition

This exhibition, the artist's first institutional solo show in Germany, reinterprets historical collections through a contemporary lens under the theme 'Sabotage.' Centered on monochrome paintings by Italian artist Giulia Andreani, inspired by family albums and archives, it reveals the tension between authoritative figures and forgotten ones. Presented as part of the Hamburger Bahnhof's 30th-anniversary program, the exhibition's structure references Sigmar Polke's 1997 exhibition 'The Three Lies of Painting.' It is also linked to works from the Antikensammlung (Museum of Classical Antiquities), presenting 12 works in total. Visitors can experience the intersection of historical memory and contemporary interpretation through signature works such as Paint Unbidden (Palimpsest) (2025) and Pour elles toutes (Myrninerest) (2024).
