About the Exhibition
This exhibition illuminates the social atmosphere and artistic achievements of the Joseon dynasty through the paintings of Danwon Kim Hong-do. A leading painter of the mid-Joseon period, Kim Hong-do captured the daily life and sentiments of his time with striking vividness, giving his work great art-historical value. Centered on his major works, the exhibition explores his creative process and historical background, offering an opportunity to understand the artistic currents of the Joseon era. It presents around 30 works in sections organized by period, tracing the growth of Kim Hong-do's artistry. Signature pieces such as 'Chunhyangdo' and 'Woman and Dog' in particular offer viewers a timeless artistic impression.
