About the Exhibition

Piknic presents COMPANY World Affair: In Search of the Secret to Making the Whole World, an exhibition by the Helsinki-based design studio COMPANY, from April 3 to September 6, 2026. For more than 20 years, COMPANY has traveled the world seeking out unique local manufacturing techniques and the artisans who have preserved them, and this exploration — deeply understanding the cultures and people of unfamiliar lands and falling in love with the whole world — is itself their 'World Affair.' From the deep forests of Finland to the bustling markets of Pakistan, COMPANY visits small towns that rarely preserve their local character in a world homogenized by mass production and giant distribution networks. Based on locally produced materials such as wood, earth, metal, and textiles, the studio respects methods of making passed down through generations, reconsidering the spirituality and wisdom embedded within them through a contemporary sensibility. The exhibition shows the journey of close conversation and collaboration the two artists have shared with makers around the world. COMPANY is a design studio founded in 2000 by Korean-born Aamu Song and Finnish designer Johan Olin, exhibited at leading museums such as Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, the Design Museum Helsinki, and the Aomori Museum of Art, and has also collaborated with Artek, Marimekko, and Hermès.
