About the Exhibition

This exhibition explores the longstanding artistic philosophy of Dutch artist herman de vries. For more than 50 years he has held to the belief that nature is art, creating art grounded in his background as a botanist and gardener. The exhibition also emphasizes that he was a member of the art informel group 'nul' and has been recognized as a leading figure in environmental art since the 1970s. It includes about 30 works in total, addressing his work combining exploration of nature, scientific methodology, mythological narrative, and philosophical inquiry. In particular, the various objects he has collected on everyday explorations of nature, and their systematic classification, form the core of the exhibition, offering a perspective that crosses the boundary between nature and art. Visitors will gain a fresh understanding of the relationship between art and environment through works embodying his exploration of nature and philosophical approach.
