About the Exhibition

This exhibition explores ways of living through Hōjōki, a work created in the early 13th century, and reconsiders the impermanence and meaning of life in contemporary society. Centered on Hōjōki, a traditional literary and artistic heritage, the exhibition was organized to explore the direction of life. The main artists featured are Japanese, and works that reinterpret Hōjōki from a contemporary perspective are especially on view. The exhibition consists of a total of 13 works, organized into several sections that connect the literary content of Hōjōki with contemporary interpretation. Visitors have the opportunity to reconsider the direction of their own lives through works that harmonize the traditional imagery of Hōjōki with contemporary interpretation.
