About the Exhibition

This is the first large-scale exhibition in Austria of German-American artist and designer Anni Albers. Titled 'Anni Albers: Constructing Textiles,' the exhibition shows how she developed multilayered work spanning art, design, craft, education, and art theory through textiles. It sheds light on her many areas of creative work, from her early activity at the Bauhaus, through her influential work at Black Mountain College, to her theoretical research. The exhibition includes about 100 works in total, spanning multiple periods and genres, exploring her artistic insight and innovation. In particular, her textile works and works grounded in design theory offer visitors an opportunity to experience creativity that crosses the boundary between art and everyday life.
