About the Exhibition

This is a joint project presenting two exhibitions simultaneously, organized in cooperation between the Hart Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Themed 'American Identity,' it explores how individuals and groups form and express identity within American society. The exhibition includes photographic work by David Levinthal and prints by Chicano artists, reflecting the many identities within America.
