About the Exhibition

The Suwon Museum of Art presents the 2026 international exhibition 《Patricia Piccinini: Kinship》. Patricia Piccinini (b. 1965, Sierra Leone, West Africa) is a contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Australia, who has worked across photography, video, and other media, centered on lifelike, hyperrealistic sculptures made using silicone, fiberglass, and hair. She drew international attention as the representative artist for the Australian Pavilion at the 2003 Venice Biennale. While 'kinship' is generally translated as ties of blood, family relations, or lineage, in Piccinini's work the term does not remain confined to the traditional, human-centered concept of relationships. The exhibition is organized into four sections — 「Awaken」, 「Encounter」, 「Bond」, and 「Traces」 — questioning whom we consider family and what we recognize as life.
