About the Exhibition

The Daegu Art Museum presents Grey Theater, a solo exhibition by Sim Yoon, selected as a 2026 D.Artist. Sim Yoon has continued to explore contemporary human life and the conditions of existence, rendering in painting a reality permeated by tension, fatigue, conflict, and disconnection. The artist views life not as simple daily routine but as a war-like state in which one must ceaselessly endure and perform assigned roles. This exhibition is built around Sim Yoon's new series Silent Guernica. Rather than merely reproducing or paying homage to Picasso's Guernica, the artist reconstructs it as an icon of the era, revealing the conflict, collective fatigue, and fractured relationships permeating our society. The exhibition borrows the theatrical structure of prologue, interlude, act, finale, and epilogue, and as visitors move through the space, they experience the landscape of contemporary life and the sensibility of the era as the artist sees it, unfolding like a single play.
