About the Artist

Constantin Brâncuși was born in 1876 in Wallachia, Romania, and died in 1957. A sculptor active in Paris, he is recognized as an important pioneer of abstract sculpture. Initially influenced by Rodin, he later developed his own distinctive style, working to simplify form and explore the essence of objects. Brâncuși's artistic world reflects deep contemplation on form and material. He emphasized the essence over the outward appearance of objects, working marble, wood, and bronze with painstaking care. His philosophy of revealing the essential nature of material gave his work an inner sense of integrity. His signature work 'The Beginning of the World' comprises an abstract, simplified form that entirely excludes descriptive elements. Through abstract sculpture, he explored spiritual presence beyond physical form, a pursuit that played a key role in shaping his artistic identity.
